“Giving beer the respect it deserves.” That’s the mission statement for the Tap House Grill. This popular Washington mini-chain (one is located in downtown Seattle, the other in Bellevue) boasts 160 beers on tap. An additional dozen or so, which they refer to as “Honor Society” beers - the crème de la crème of hand crafted goodness (i.e., Delirium Tremens, St. Bernardus 12, Caracole Nostradamus), are even served in their appropriate glassware. The beer selection changes frequently, so you’ll always have new ones to try. Nearly half of the Seattle pub’s 160 taps are dedicated to brews from the Northwest, but that still leaves plenty of taps for beers from across the globe.
If you’re just visiting and having trouble figuring out what to try (and who wouldn’t?), THG offers five different beer samplers, each with 4 six ounce pours. If you’re a local who can hit the Tap a few times a week then you’ll want to become a Member. These serious cerevisaphiles get 20% of their tab the first 7 days of every month, work towards cash rewards, receive invites to private events and a nifty newsletter. You can’t beat that with a mash tun rake!
Tap House hasn’t forgotten about the “grill” either. It’s not only a fantastic beer bar… but also a fine dining experience. THG serves up some of the freshest seafood available, including an amazing assortment of sushi, sashimi-grade tuna steaks, and pan roasted chicken breasts (stuffed with Gruyere and mushrooms).
Some people poopoo Tap House for being too yuppy… if having over 160 beers available to drink is “too yuppy,” where do I get me some madras plaid pants and an Oxford shirt?
