5 Burro Cafe

For 10 years and kicking this long standing Forest Hills institution features the most important ingredient for any Mexican restaurant–knock-your-socks-off (or kick-ass if we can say that in print) Margaritas–available by the glass or in convenient pitchers. Almost every night the place is packed and you will have to wait, but after one drink, who cares. Kitsch and knick-knacks abound on the walls and Thursday night this is the place to be for singles, couples or friends just getting together. They claim to be child friendly, but unless you have older children, I don’t recommend it for dinner. Stick to brunch if you want to bring the ankle-biters. The menu, while typical of a Mexican café, is quite extensive and truly you can’t make a bad choice. Prices are reasonable and the service is extremely attentive for a joint this hopping.
